We love the shade! Will any trees be removed to make way for the new playground equipment?
A. No trees will be removed as a result to this project. The Red Hook Recreation Commission is always assessing the trees on the property and will remove any tree that may be hazardous
When was the last time the playground was updated?
A. Historically, individual pieces have been added to the playground, but this will be the first full renovation since its orginal installation
How long will the playground take to complete?
A. Once the project is fully funded, the installation will take two full weekends to complete. The community build is scheduled for May 3-5 & May 10-11. Sign up to help here.
Who will build the playground?
A. YOU! This is a community build project, and we need volunteers of all ability levels. If you are interested in volunteering, sign up here.
What is the fundraising goal?
A. The full cost of the project is $250,000, most of which will be funded through a town bond and grants. Our goals is to raise $40,000 through community sponsorships and your generous contributions.
What’s going to happen to the turtle?
A. The turtle is a unique and beloved part of our park. We intend to give the turtle some tender loving care and keep it. We welcome ideas of how to revitalize this piece and integrate it into the new design
